Kubeadm is now Certified Kubernetes

Earlier this month the Cloud Native Computing Foundation introduced a new Kubernetes certification program.
“The new Certified Kubernetes Conformance Program gives enterprise organizations the confidence that workloads that run on any Certified Kubernetes Distribution or Platform will work correctly on any other version,” said Dan Kohn, Executive Director, Cloud Native Computing Foundation. “The interoperability that this program ensures is essential to Kubernetes meeting its promise of offering a single open source software stack supported by many vendors that can deploy on any public, private or hybrid cloud.”
In short, the programs aims to ensure that cloud providers and other services vendors remain compatible with one another as the popular container orchestration project takes hold of the industry.
Weaveworks, a silver member of the Cloud Native Foundation since the very beginning, is proud to see Kubeadm become part of the Certified Kubernetes tools. Members of our Developer Experience team Ilya Dmitrichenko and Lucas Käldström are both core contributors of SIG-cluster-lifecycle. This particular SIG works on kubeadm, a tool for bootstrapping a best-practice Kubernetes cluster easily.
Kubeadm’s scope is small by design. It installs Kubernetes on existing machines, which means you can easily adopt kubeadm in your cluster setup flow, and use something like Terraform to provision the infrastructure for you. It’s one of the easiest ways to get a production grade cluster up and running in minutes.
The SIG has made continuous progress cementing kubeadm as the easiest Kubernetes installation method since its initial announcement in October 2016. Catch up on the latest release features for kubeadm v1.8 here.
If you’d like to learn more about Kubeadm and how to use it we’ll be at CloudNativeCon + KubeCon in Austin. Please stop by our booth D4 to chat about kubeadm, Kubernetes and Prometheus, or simply pick up some of our funky give-aways (hint: check out our Twitter channel for a sneak peek). We hope to see you there!
