The Weaveworks team is leaving for ✈️ Barcelona

Another KubeCon Europe is right around the corner, from May 21 - May 23. The CNCF anticipates over 10,000 participants for this event and we’re so excited to be a part of it! This time around we’re bringing back a workshop that was well-received last year, participating in speaking sessions with friends of Weaveworks, and joining panel discussions.

Ready to get your clusters production-ready?

It’s back! Our full-day, hands-on workshop around Production Ready Kubernetes Brice Fernandes, Software Engineer at Weaveworks). This one sold out very quickly ahead of KubeCon US, so if you’re interested, act quickly as seats are limited.

This workshop is for you if:

  • You are a cluster operators/ administrators or DevOps engineers. We expect at working knowledge of Kubernetes - this course will not cover Kubernetes basics.
  • You have deployed a few applications to a test cluster, and now want a path forward of how to use Kubernetes in production - reliably and at scale.

Brice will cover:

  • Developing and operating your Kubernetes microservices at scale

  • What does DevOps and GitOps look like in practice

  • Building with Kubernetes in production: caring for your apps, implementing CI/CD best practices, and utilizing the right metrics, monitoring tools, and automated alerts

  • Operating Kubernetes in production: Upgrading and managing Kubernetes, managing incident response, and adhering to security best practices for Kubernetes

To register for this event, add it onto your KubeCon registration.

Can’t-miss Weaveworks speaking sessions

Panel talk with Weaveworks CEO Alexis Richardson on GitOps

Alexis Richardson is speaking along with Ivan Pedrazas of State Street, Laura Frank Tacho of CloudBees, and Tracy Miranda of CloudBees on the panel discussion GitOps & Best Practices for Cloud Native CI/CD.

The panel will swap war stories around their own end user experiences setting up CI/CD for applications, discuss GitOps best practices, and share advice on how organizations can adopt GitOps for their CI/CD needs. Attend this session on Tuesday, May 21 at 14:00.

Bryan Boreham teams up with Tom Wilkie of Grafana (twice!)

This time around at KubeCon, you get double the sessions on Weave Cortex.

For those with no familiarity with Weave Cortex, you’ll want to attend the Intro: Cortex on Tuesday, May 21 at 11:05 which will cover the history of Weave Cortex, its architecture, and how to get started.

After you join Bryan (Weave Cortex maintainer and Weaveworks Director of Software Engineering) and Tom for that session (or if you already have some Weave Cortex experience under your belt), join them the next day at 15:55 for Deep Dive: Cortex. Benefits, deployment how-tos, operational challenges, and the future of Weave Cortex will all be covered.

Co-located Events

On the Monday before KubeCon officially kicks off (May 20), the Weaveworks team will also be participating in the co-located events Cloud Native Storage Day and Cloud Native Transformation Summit.

Alexis Richardson will be delivering a keynote on the CNCF and stateful apps at 9:15 for Cloud Native Storage Day. This event brings together cloud-native users and experts. The day is comprised of panel discussions, technical demos, and networking opportunities.

Meanwhile, Bryan Boreham will be giving a talk called Automate Kubernetes with GitOps for the Cloud Native Transformation Summit. Discover how enterprises are moving to production-level Kubernetes and digital transforming their applications and infrastructures into cloud-native technologies.

Stefan Prodan, Developer Experience Engineer, will be giving a talk and demo of Weave Flagger, progressive delivery for AWS App Mesh. This talk will be a part of the AWS pre-show event.
